Late Wednesday afternoon, the ER at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas was placed on lock-down after a patient came in displaying possible high-risk symptoms for Ebola. The patient told hospital staff that he was recently in contact with another individual who had been to Africa.
As a result of this possible Ebola patient, the Amarillo/Potter/Randall Office of Emergency Management has been activated.
The (Emergency Operations Center) is staffed with first responders police, fire, Public Health, Amarillo Medical Services. They have not requested any of our assets, but were available if needed.
Were here to gather information and provide any support requested and to monitor the situation, Amarillo City Manager Jarrett Atkinson said.
Were working directly with them through Public Health and the Texas Department of State Health Services, Emergency Management Coordinator Kevin Starbuck said.
We have confirmed that the Amarillo patient did travel on the same Frontiers Airline flight as Dallas, Texas nurse Amber Vinson. It was revealed earlier today that Vinson has tested positive for Ebola after caring for Thomas Eric Duncan at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Flu season is gonna be a hoot.
M O O N...that spells Obola.
At the very least, the airlines need to announce that they’re disinfecting the armrests and tray tables after each flight to help reassure people on some level. Their busiest time of the year starts in 4 weeks and things are going downhill fast.

It will be time to start building gallows.
Yup.
Frontier panic? No way someone would be symptomatic this soon. Unless there was contact with someone from Africa independently. Then you have an interesting probability calculation for the odds of two people, exposed to different sources ending up on the same flight.
Always somebody on FR using facts to spoil the party.
I am still not convinced on the validity of this. I’ve seen a few articles about this already and a couple have said this person was on the plane with Vinson and some don’t. One did and then removed that comment after a few minutes. So who knows?
This report is wrong.
According to this source:http://www.kcbd.com/story/26797922/amarillo-emergency-room-locked-down-by-ebola-scare
KAMR NBC 4 initially reported that the patient had been on a plane with Ebola patient Amber Vinson but this claim has been withdrawn.
Thank you for that!
The article states that he was in contact with an individual that had been in Africa. That doesn’t describe the nurse.
Hard to tell if this is poor reporting or coinky dink.
Did Amber recently travel to Africa?
If not, this article makes no sense to me.
Captain Trips will get you high tonight. Take you to that special island.
