Josephus Weeks, nephew of Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan, said his uncle died a needless death.

"He was a man of color with no health insurance and no means to pay for treatment, so within hours he was released," Weeks wrote in a Tuesday op-ed for the Dallas Morning News.

Weeks ripped into Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where his uncle died, saying the medical facility's "ignorance, incompetence and indecency has yet to be explained."

I still this the nephew knew Duncan had it when he came here. Those tears sure turned into $ signs quickly.

He was a man of color with no health insurance and no means to pay for treatment

I don't believe for a second that any of these factors played any part in Duncan being sent home, but it's not clear why any non-American of any color with no health insurance and no means to pay for treatment would fly into this country and expect to be treated. Inevitably, taxpayers will be asked to absorb the cost and I, for one, have not agreed to pay for free medical care for people from other countries.

I know that when I travel abroad, I make sure I have adequate medical travel insurance. I do not expect the taxpayers of the nations I choose to visit to provide me with expensive medical treatments at no charge to me on demand. Mr. Duncan should have done the same, or he should have stayed home. And before his nephew complains, I'd like him to explain why he did not pay for his uncle's medical care but expects me to do so.

If he feels he suffered financially then he is responsible for the debt incurred.

I don’t think Duncan or his nephew knew he had Ebola when he came here. If he knew he had Ebola, why did he (a) wait several days before going to the hospital, and (b) not mention Ebola the first time he showed up at the hospital? Seems he would have wanted to begin treatment ASAP if he knew he had (or could have) Ebola....

Ungrateful. With 70+ staff helping his uncle, he really has limited room to complain; especially since no one in the family is paying for any of this care.

Instead, he should be explaining why his uncle found it appropriate to lie to gain entry to the US knowing he was infected or exposed and explain how his family is going to pay for not only his treatment, but for health of workers now infected because of his uncles irresponsible and illegal action.

What worries me the most is if these people visited any social ministry in the Dallas area to get their handouts.

Nothing is said that they had jobs or earned income.

His uncle WOULD have been put in jail and deported as a criminal. No feelings for these people bringing this pestilence to our shores. Damn them all.

I’ll bet even the mentally deranged white guilt liberals are tiring of the evil black racists. Too bad if this kid caught ebola, really break my heart.

I don’t think Duncan or his nephew knew he had Ebola when he came here.

But he knew that he carried his landlord's daughter several days before and she DIED of ebola. He applied for a visa, stated he had no contact with anyone with ebola, quit his job and was on a plane to the US within several days.

I'm still wondering how he managed to sleep in every bed in the apartment ...

“And your uncle managed to expose 100 other people at the hospital.”

No. The incompetence of the hospital and the CDC exposed all of those people. And they continue to do so today.

We should have taken him and dumped his ass at a Superfund site. Who knows how many lives this loser has endangered or cost.

He knew he had had close, personal & active contact with a person dying of Ebola. By your logic he would have mentioned that fact during his initial hospital visit.

But he didn’t.

“Race had nothing to do with it. I know from first hand experience this happens to white people too.”

Bingo. I’ve been in the ER screaming at staff to help and to take a loved one’s illness seriously and been blown off. My son almost died from this attitude. So did my mother. I had to threaten a lawsuit and actually call a lawyer from the ER to save my mother from a thyoid storm.
