Report: Officials Haven't Tested Whether Coughing, Sneezing Can Spread Ebola
Brietbart ^ | October 13, 2014 | Tony Lee

Posted on 10/14/2014 7:50:35 AM PDT by Zakeet

Experts have reportedly not tested whether Ebola patients can infect others by coughing or sneezing even as one of the top experts on the particular strain of Ebola that has ravaged West Africa believes the virus is "primed" to go airborne.

You don't need to worry cause the government is well managed and its dedicated civil servants are hardworking and always know what they are doing!

Then how did they make the claim that Ebola is not airborne?

Why would they feeeeel the need to test this, they already told us it's not contagious!

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

"primed" to go airborne.

"Primed"?

"Primed" how exactly?

From yesterday:

Though breaking these protocols could indeed cause a person to become infected, it is equally likely that airborne aerosols are a cause. Take a look at the information in this thread, from a very credible source*:

"To summarize, for the following reasons we believe that Ebola could be an opportunistic aerosol-transmissible disease requiring adequate respiratory protection: •Patients and procedures generate aerosols, and Ebola virus remains viable in aerosols for up to 90 minutes. •All sizes of aerosol particles are easily inhaled both near to and far from the patient. •Crowding, limited air exchange, and close interactions with patients all contribute to the probability that healthcare workers will be exposed to high concentrations of very toxic infectious aerosols. •Ebola targets immune response cells found in all epithelial tissues, including in the respiratory and gastrointestinal system. •Experimental data support aerosols as a mode of disease transmission in non-human primates.

"Risk level and working conditions suggest that a PAPR will be more protective, cost-effective, and comfortable than an N95 filtering facepiece respirator."

CIDRAP: "We Believe There Is Scientific Evidence Ebola Has The Potential To Be Airborne"

(* -- "The Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP; "SID-wrap") is a global leader in addressing public health preparedness and emerging infectious disease response. Founded in 2001, CIDRAP is part of the Academic Health Center at the University of Minnesota." )

Airborne or not, coughing and sneezing creates an aerosol of bodily fluids. Obola is highly infectious. If you come in contact with a drop of an infected person's bodily fluids, you will be infected.

Obama said you can’t get it on a bus, so there’s your answer.
He’s so smart.

"Obama lied, people died." The misinformation and inaction on Ebola is far more egregious than Bush's allegedly slow response to Katrina.

You'd need to ask the "Baghdad Bobs" the Obama administration sent out on Sunday. The "breached" protocol for Ebola, as described on the CDC website, is fairly pathetic. My dentist routinely does as much. Most of the cleanup workers (except the two guys power washing the sidewalk in shirtsleeves) were doing much more then the CDC recommends.

The claim that Ebola can not possibly become airborne is something that an Obama flack/ political hack might try to make, not a scientist.

10s of thousands could be infected in the next couple of months.

The death rate in Africa has risen from 50% to 70%.

CDC still running in circles, trying to figure out which protocols were breached in Dallas.

Here is why I think they are not investing time and money in understanding this virus... They already know. This was a weaponized virus. The government knows all about it... how it works, how to stop it (for a limited group). My guess is it was being re-tested and it got out of hand. Yeah, it might kill a few million, but as long as the “right” people are not taken out.. really, who cares?

How about animals as carriers? Pets? Mosquitoes? Flies? Bugs of all sorts landing on or walking across food or tables or utensils or clothing? IOW no one seems to know anything definitive. Just trust Obama and his cadre of faculty lounge experts to do what is right like they have so reliably in the past. God save the Republic!

From the linked article.

Coughs also force out thousands of tiny droplets of saliva. About 3,000 droplets are expelled in a single cough, and some of them fly out of the mouth at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.
The sneeze
Sneezing is even worse [see a photo].
It starts at the back of the throat and produces even more droplets — as many as 40,000 — some of which rocket out at speeds greater than 200 miles per hour. The vast majority of the droplets are less than 100 microns across — the width of a human hair. Many of them are so tiny that they cannot be seen with the naked eye.

The gist of my post is that a person performing all nursing tasks which expose one to fluids must use positive-pressure breathing equipment beyond a face mask or N-95 masks. Any free fluid particles can become an aerosol through the simple task of cleaning up vomit or flushing diarrhea down a toilet (which in itself should be avoided without disinfection).

So, people like Sharpton and Farrakhan were right?
The US gov’t invented ebola to kill black people?

Don’t put words in my mouth. I didn’t say that. If you think think Sharpton is correct, say it is your belief in your own post.
