Schumer, during his press conference near the Brooklyn Bridge where he also discussed tresspassing legislation, said he understood why many New Yorkers are concerned but said what happened in Dallas will not happen in New York City.
“While there is never a way to completely eliminate the risk of Ebola, New York City hospitals are far better equipped than was the Dallas hospital and I think New Yorkers should know that.”

The scarier thing to me is that the PPE CDC was recommending for the health care workers would leave them exposed to contagion. The description given by the hospital is woefully lacking....You need triple gloves, a full tyvek suit (not a gown), and more than just a nose mask and shield.....
In talking with daughter (a nurse who has had to deal with some nasty cases but not ebola) she is very critical of the PPEs that are ‘recommended and the manner in which hospitals set up the infectious disease unit.
What we really need to be doing is two fold: NO flights allowed from countries with outbreaks; as much medical help as possible to those countries to try and help contain the disease. What we are doing now is a joke.
That said no one is addressing the MASSIVE influx of contagious and dangerous diseases that are coming across the border with all of the third world folks carrying everything from enter viruses to TB to malaria
NY hospitals are among the best in the world, but no one knows or is telling the truth about this animal. Therefore treatment is still at its infant stages. Shumer just hasn’t been on TV for 2 days so the schmuck had to make an a-hole comment.

It sounds like he’s trying to camouflage some wishful thinking: “If a health worker strictly adheres to health protocols, the chances of infection are next to none.” with some of that NY NY chutzpah most of us groan at, as when Texans start talking size, etc.
But what’s he s’posed to say? “Forget ‘protocol.’ It doesn’t matter if you’re hermetically sealed in a ‘Gumby’ Mylar/Kevlar zip lock bag. And in the next room. The chances are pretty good, we’re sorry to say, that you’re going to get sick.”
People would be afraid to go to their jobs at the hospital.
But yeah, I think it’s a pretty lousy thing to do, to blame the victim, and aren’t Democrats always groaning about such things? So it’s insensitive, too, Chuck.
Once again, the past six years have shown that liberals believe whatever they wish to be true is true, rather than dealing with facts and reality. A president Obama will bring peace to the world simply because he is Barack Obama. A New York hospital is fully prepared for Ebola simply because Chucky ‘thinks’ they are better prepared. No sense of reality whatsoever.
