Can’t quit Mitt: Friends say Romney feels nudge to consider a 2016 presidential run
Washington Post ^ | October 13, 2014 | hilip Rucker and Robert Costa

-SNIP-

Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee and now the tacit head of the Republican Party, visited Iowa as part of a feverish nationwide tour designed to help the GOP take control of the Senate.

-SNIP-

Romney is grappling with this question: If drafted, would he answer the party’s call?

-SNIP-

Former aides and senior Republicans say Romney appreciates the GOP masses crowing that he was right about issues such as Russia and health care. But what really intrigues him, they said, are the vulnerabilities among top-tier candidates in the Republican field. If Romney moves toward a race, it would be because he sees a path to victory.

-SNIP-

“It’s the market pulling him,” said Kent Lucken, a longtime friend and adviser who accompanied Romney to Iowa. “People look at Hillary as the likely Democratic nominee, and the party needs a strong leader who can stand up to her and who’s been through the process.”

-SNIP-

Many Romney boosters believe that his window of opportunity will be in mid- to late 2015, should Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) or Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) ascend and party establishment types turn to Romney as a savior.

-SNIP-

“He’s the only qualified person to run this time,” Chidester said. “Mitt is a business genius. That’s why I’ve listened to this tape three times. He had it all down — he had Russia down, he had the debt down — and all the other Republicans are novices by comparison.”

How does LOSING translate to “the only one qualified?”

Well, all those other "electable" Republicans haven't lost yet.

One difference between the medusa and myth, the medusa actually wants to be President, she would suck too and America would still suffer, but that is one huge difference between them.I just want to be able to push a reset button until we get a choice that doesn’t suck. I think maybe this why some people take drugs.

Making you different from the average minority Democrat how exactly?

No, really. Tell us in detail why it’s desirable for you to be a GOP plantation dweller assisting the Liberals in advancing the liberalization of the Republican party/America with your unquestioning and loyal support ‘no matter what’, but it’s bad for Black Democrats to assist Obama in the exact same way because he’s a fellow Dem.

And please, don’t duck, dodge or divert. Answer that clear and legit question.

No I did not put obama in office. I did not vote for him. The loser Romney won in my state. Thankfully I could afford to vote my conscience. I wrote in my vote.

Actually, Romney would have been WORSE than Obama, ironically, because the reaction by Republicans to oppose his liberal agenda would have been obliterated.

Exactly right.

It would also have been worse because with Obama, a combination of ignorant voters stupid enough to want Obama's amoral agenda to win, and ginned/fraud votes, put him in power. (Why in hell does anyone think the Dems fight voter ID so hard? Yeeeesh!!!)

But had Romney won and enacted his amoral liberal agenda, we'd all be here hating ourselves and each other because we voted for the guy. We said we wanted that in how we cast our ballots. We have no such excuse as being naïve and amoral and stupid enough to want that agenda. Yet we'd have gotten it because we voted for it.

THAT would have been worse than Obama.

I'm still glad Romney lost.

We’ll never know how bad he could have been. He said he would be better for gays than Kennedy. He was for abortion. He was for state health care. He is for porn profits. He thinks he is becoming a god... And Republicans would have felt compelled to support the traitor from their party.

Yep. Well said.

It's not about Obama or whatever evil Democrat lurks beyond. It's about Romney and the whole amoral big government agenda he represents.

Thank you for placing our present bozo in office. [by not voting for Romney].

Actually, Jarhead, I thank Penny for helping make sure the bastard LOST. I refused to vote for him just like Penny and I'd do it again.

There's this thing called accountability. You can pretend to be accountable for what you voted "against." As far as I'm concerned, that's horse puckey -- and it took me 30 years to figure it out, I used to be right there with you, I voted for Schwarzenegger, for crying out loud. Here's the deal: you had better be willing to be accountable for what you voted FOR.

And if we were here today and the Republican party was dishing out all the Obama Fare that Romney had on the menu, I'd be holding YOU accountable. And you'd be whining that you didn't vote for it, you were voting against Obama!

So go ahead. Be accountable for what you voted "against." It took me a few decades, but I finally figured out why they call it the "stupid" party. You obviously haven't yet.

Only idiots will overlook the fact that the ONLY REASON that Obama won the last election was BECAUSE ROMNEY RAN!

2016 would be the THIRD presidential cycle that he would queer, yet the left of the GOP is more focused on making Mitt President than actually winning the election

NAW the GOP is more focused on destroying the conservative base and to hell with the election. We have more enemity from the GOP than we do from the democrats and Mitt is a perfect tool.

His mormon attitude of being "speshul" and getting Ann into the white house is what drives not only Mitt, but the mormons that flubbed his other campaigns with the belief that he is "ordained" to save the nation. It is written!
