Bingo! We have a winner! And send patients with other injuries and illnesses to other emergency rooms!
“Each county should dedicate one hospital or clinic to Ebola treatments only.”
Nothing screams “Free Market” like a hospital administrator being told his or her hospital is the designated plague hospital.
Were I on the board of directors of said designated hospital, I’d say, “Go **** yourselves.”
Unless and until they publish a scientifically supported set of facts that answer all known questions about the disease (obvious exceptions - how it is cured or inoculated against), then I’d say no to being that hospital.
A protocol that covers everything from admission to cure, for example. One that excludes the use of elevators. One that allows for the modification of the wing by an exterior door to allow for the addition of worker and gear decom. One that allows for possible shift quarantine and housing. One that allows for the removal of pests of all sizes (since we don’t know whether mosquitoes, no-see-ums, flies, ants, bedbugs, tics, or fleas can pass the disease, you got deal with it until you do.)
The simple truth of the status quo is this:
“The people trained in the handling of infectious diseases are dying of Ebola Guinea. If that is true, then what is the expectation for people untrained in the handling of infectious diseases?” (Like a Marine Division)
The unfortunate truth is this - Democrats are the only people who are in a position to solve this, because if Republicans try it is going to look politicized. If they have to 25A Obama, let it begin already.
