Because they can.

They are obviously benevolent and want to spare us worry. They don’t want to create panic. They just love us all so much. /s
This guy is good, I hope we get a lot of such critics because we need to get serious about our preparations for bioterrorism.

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
As others have said, shut down the travel from these nations. Just read last night a case in Sierra Leona close to Guinea caused them to shut the borders.
The problem with all this effort is it may catch some but others can get in by going through other airports. And at the airports being checked, Duncan would have likely gotten through if they are just screening on temperature because he probably wasn't sick yet and we know he lied.
Duncan's family haven't heard anything, you'd expect them to be more contaminated than that medical worker; however the virus probably keeps multiplying until your whole body is full of the stuff, think they call it "load".
He makes a lot of sense, which is why he’ll be ignored, even demonized.
It makes no sense to say that a travel ban would prevent health care workers from leaving. Obviously they could be and should be granted exceptions. They shouldn’t be traveling by general aviation anyway.
Hey SJ,
I posted this elsewhere . What do you think?
This quote from CDC Director Tom Frieden shout a shouted far and wide.
It proved he is trying to create a narrative where one does not exist, to deflect accountability:
Frieden said on CBS. I think the fact that we dont know of a breach in protocol is concerning because clearly there was a breach in protocol.”
He is giving the lapdog press to run with the “breach of protocol” narrative, which they have eagerly done.
He is awesome and right on. In healthcare we know this is a disaster waiting to happen.
Can this guy be in charge please? Don’t bring them into the hospitals. That seems counterintuitive but it makes so much sense. Do triage in an isolated location.
And stop them flying. Please. They’re flying right out of the hottest areas.
A woman told her story in Sunday’s Times. A TSA screener touched her neck. She went into a restroom to clean the spot with bleach. How many others would do this?
