Ferguson October organizers, the group behind a weekend of marches and panels criticizing and discussing recent police-involved violence, say they are planning more direct action Monday after another night of clashes between police and demonstrators. Seventeen people were arrested. On Sunday, the group was training protestors for more nonviolent, civil disobedience action

I may get some guff for this, but it seems they could make some park the official protest area.  Make them get permits.  Perhaps make them post a bond based on the numbers they expect to attend.  Then let them hold their rallies.

Hold the permit holder responsible for what takes place.

At this point, the legit protests have pretty much run their course.  (long past IMO)  This is just grandstanding by special interest groups.  Let it continue, just set up some parameters that will make it tougher to game the situation.

The Organization for Black Struggle "about page" says their program is based upon the Black Freedom Agenda that was introduced at the founding of the Black Radical Congress in 1998 and ratified in 1999.

This is their "Freedom Agenda"

3. We will fight to advance beyond capitalism, which has demonstrated its structural incapacity to address basic human needs worldwide and, in particular, the needs of Black people.

Democrats are doing all they can to keep Ferguson in the news cycle through the November election in order to rally their black base to the polls. However, these black demonstrations of barbarism may rally more whites than blacks to the polls during this mid-term election.

Some of the things can be supported. Other parts are obviously problematic to one degree or another.

The best civil rights agenda today would start out with two parent homes and making your children apply themselves in school.

It’s the same for everyone. There’s no better sure-fire way to make sure people’s standard of living improves.

This is all working out quite nicely for conservatives, actually. If we're treated to another orgy of looting, arson, shootings and brick throwing, while our invertebrate politicians agonize over whether their response is seen as sufficiently "sensitive," we should position registration tables along the perimeters of the chaos.

The average American may not be able to lay a nightstick across the heads of these thugs, but he or she can certainly make their thoughts known in November. I ask my liberal friends if these indecencies are what they had in mind when they allowed themselves to get caught up in the "transformational change" mantra?
