People do not get admitted to the hospital for 103 temp. Duncan and friends KNEW it was potentially ebola but the hospital staff did not. Obviously they would not have sent him home if they had any thought it was ebola. Those poor people have been quarantined themselves.

The blame lies more with Duncan and friends for not mentioning ebola. THEY KNEW but were afraid of Duncan being charged with a crime BY HIS OWN COUNTRY. At that point they could not admit he knew. I am not saying they knew he had it. I am saying they KNEW he MIGHT have it.

Get the hard drive to their computer and find out what they knew. I will bet you the marriage was also a ploy to fast citizenship and nothing more. “Love of his life”? He got another woman pregnant at the same time. He had not seen his 19 year old son for 17 years.

I am sorry he died but they should just take their near million dollars in services (hospital, doctors, emergency vehicle, hazmat clean-up, free accommodations at house in gated community, etc.) and walk away thankful.

His family cannot be held responsible for payment. His mother? No. His 19 year old son whom he has not seen for 17 years? No. His girlfriend? No. Nephew? No. His country of origin? No. No one can be held legally responsible. I suppose the hospital could sue his estate, but he had nothing, not even a job.

Interesting that they cannot be held legally responsible for payment of medical bills but it sure looks like they are planning to sue the hospital and gain a windfall of cash in his name.

He put them as risk. He provided nothing in the way of support. He did not even live in the same country. Had he not come to the US he would surely have died in Liberia. Remember in Liberia he could not even get a 7 month pregnant woman with ebola admitted to their hospitals. So while it is very sad, what is the net loss due to his having encountered the Dallas Hospital situation?

Also, it is incredibly hard hearted for his family to be griping that all the white american’s have lived. These were americans risking their lives to help black africans with ebola. The average american has better health to begin with than the average african. When they contract a deadly disease the healthier people will have a better chance at survival. It has nothing to do with race.

Many years ago, I ended up in the emergency room with a bad kidney infection. My temperature hit 103. The ERw as packed and hospital rooms were in short supply. I remember the ER doctor yelling “This woman has a temp of 103. She’s too sick to be in the ER. Get her a room, ICU if nothing else is available.” And I was out of the Er and in a room in 20 minutes.

I was surprised that they let Ebola guy leave with a temp that high.

And your point is, what?

That your claim was historically incorrect.

So what are you suggesting? A new Ellis Island? That we route every incoming passenger entering the U.S. to a central location and subject them to isolation and medical screening?

And I have you the Wikipedia article stating that I was incorrect

My point, for the common sense challenged, is that in 1847, as in 1893, we were able to figure out that communicable deadly diseases got turned away

What do I expect us to do you ask?

I expect us to go along with the wishes of the most hateful the most disrespectful, proud, greedy, powerful government running the most hedonistic nonsensical jealous racist drug addicted pornography addicted selfish uncaring no testosterone populace ever known and let in- welcome in- 150 west Africans per week and then get caught realizing they’ve - as usual- overestimated our hospital system, and not really care about it , because, like the populace, as long as ‘I’m getting taken care of, what do I care?’

Bad mix of attributes for a deadly mutating unknown disease very preventable with flight restrictions

The flight restrictions WILL happen.

As immigration and travel restrictions happened a hundred and fifty years ago and during the eisenhauer administration

And when they do happen people will say geeez why didn’t we do this earlier

That’s my point

I may have my patients mixed up, but isn’t this the guy that told people in Liberia he had to get to the U. S. for treatment?

His actions sure don’t reveal that, so maybe I have confused the issues on different patients.

Those white Americans had a chance to live because they were honest and got help right from the start..

they didn’t lie and hide the fact they had Ebola or might have Ebola..

Duncan KNEW what he was doing Ebola was not a stranger to him.

Ebola had been in the houses and streets of Liberia and other neighboring countries for MONTHS..

apparently Duncan had seen Ebola up close and knew that the victim had to go to a hospital for any chance to live..he may have already known he was infected himself as he helped others ...

the pregnant woman he is suppose to have helped home again after she was refused by the clinic ...why could it not be that it was just a day or 2 before he got on a plane and fled to the US to a hospital here ???

why would a sick man come here ???

Thomas Eric Duncan ... the only person to die from the disease in the U.S.

So far.
