I don’t have a particular beef with your comments. I think they are one person’s attempt to address this rationally. Your attempt may be a lot better than mine.

The one possible problem I see here is the idea an interview with these incredibly flawed people, would see them providing an unbiased accurate explanation that wasn’t focused on gaming perceptions to the extent that anything meaningful couldn’t be gleaned from it.

Deviated personalities, seem to see themselves as the normal people, and others to be operating in a fantasy world.

Aren’t these the ultimate “if it feels good do it folks”? Do they experience true guilt? Wouldn’t they be happy if not caught and allowed to do whatever they want? I realize nothing may bring them true happiness, but relatively isn’t this what gets them as close to happiness as they get.

That being the case, how can they self-analyze?

Good points.
I read their comments on a blog for sociopaths, where they compare notes with each other. I think it’s a better quality of info than an interview but I think there’s still self reporting distortion (e.g., it’s not unusual for a poster to be derided by self-described or acknowledged “real” sociopaths as a mere “wanna-be” sociopath. Yeah I guess we all have aspirations!?) A real place this shows up is that they usually decry negative public opinion because they “have never committed a crime!” blah blah blah. But I don’t see much cache in statments like “I consider myself asexual or non-sexual” or admitting that the rush they get from sex is having control, any control at all (positive or negative) over another human. So yes, I agree the source of info is iffy but I do think there’s something there. Particularly when the socios dance around the subject of destorying peoples lives, the way they describe it often sounds like the way that people describe the influence of libido on their lives.
