A building was cordoned off on the outskirts of Paris on Thursday after a suspected case of Ebola was reported to authorities. Around sixty people have been effectively quarantined, according to reports, while checks are carried out.

According to media reports in France a building in the suburb of Cergy-Pointoise, to the north west of Paris was cordoned off after reports that a person had fallen ill with 'Ebola-like symptoms".

However the latest reports suggest it may have been a false alarm.

It has been reported the sick person is from Guinea, one of the countries in West Africa hit badly by an Ebola outbreak that has killed thousands.

The prefect of Val-d'Oise Jean-Luc Nevache said the building was cordoned off so checks could be carried out and the move was made "as a precaution".

Accordng to RTL radio, around 60 people, some of whom have recently visited Guinea, have been effectively quarantined and a security cordon has been set up around the building.

They took precautions we won't take.

I am pleased to announce that the Hajj (was) free of epidemic diseases

He added on the sidelines of a press conference that the kingdom's ban on issuing visas to people from Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea would remain in place for the foreseeable future.

The measure affects some 7,400 would-be pilgrims from the West African countries, which have been the hardest hit by the virus that is estimated to have killed more than 3,400 people.

Wow! Cordoning off 60 people in one building is incredible, when just one is possibly ebola positive. Some have recently returned from Guinea. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Can you imagine the uproar if we cordoned off an entire building filled with African immigrants?
