Shiny pony earned the kind of week he had.

I don’t see another PC majority as likely.

They dropped the "Progressive" part out of the name a while ago. It's now the "Conservative Party of Canada". "Progressive Conservative" was kind of an oxymoron.

He’s a chip off the old bloc (Communist Bloc, that is).

We still have the oxymorons here in Ontario at the provincial level—and they do in Alberta as well—but good point on the Federal Level, which is what is actually being discussed.

I follow 308 religiously. I don’t see the Conservatives making up the 49, or the Liberals the 25, necessary for a majority. So long as the CPC begins by ceding pretty well all of Quebec, most of the Maritimes, Vancouver, and Toronto, they need to win 85% or so of what is left to get a majority. If the NDP is able to maintain half of its current strength, the Liberal path isn’t much easier.

The problem is that anything less than a Conservative majority means a Liberal/NDP coalition, this time around. This is the result when the country is 60% to 70% left-of-centre, in U.S. terms.
