Jay Leno is lining up his first regular television hosting gig since leaving The Tonight Show in February, and he's staying in the NBCUniversal family.

Landing Leno is a coup for CNBC. The network, known for financial news, has been trying to broaden its viewership by airing reality shows like The Profit and Restaurant Startup in primetime. Its biggest draw is reruns of financial game show Shark Tank, which have performed very well for the network...

I’ve really had enough of Leno...and all the late night talk shows stink...excepting maybe Kimmel. I think they’re seen their day.

It’s rumored to be a car show - Jay’s Garage.

Could be good...

I watched from the beginning - Steve Allen, Jack Paar and then the king - Johnny Carson.
When he left, I flipped the switch and never watched again.

It’s a wasteland of stunts, and sketches that are designed to be passed around by hipsters on YouTube and Facebook the next day.

Carson would be appalled at how juvenile it has become.

Saw him driving a vintage open wheel roadster heading north on the US-101 several years ago. Did not recognize the make/model, but it was ALL engine.

I like watching his Jay’s Garage youtube channel a lot more than when he was on the Tonight show chatting with celebrity idiots.

The new show is not meant to be a reprise of "Tonight", but is centered on the car culture.

If you love cars, Leno is your guy. His collection has it all; rods, steam, brass, sports, muscle, custom, luxury, automobilia, research material and more. And it ALL runs, and he drives it all.

His web program 'Leno's garage' is terrific. He shows a car, sometimes a guest's, explains its mechanicals, and takes it for a drive, then does a burnout...whats not to love?

He is involved in the restorations, knows the history of the cars and companies, and spends a lot of money to save our automotive history.

Instead of wailing that Leno was not Johnny, we should be glad that someone was able to make a buttload of money, then use that to enrich the car hobby.

As entertainers, give me Johnny, but for someone who is doing something important we have been given Leno....rejoice.

If it was BIG, shiny (like aluminum) it might be his Tank car - it a V-12 with a 30 (not 3.0, but thirty) liter displacement:

BEAST! It has an engine from an M-47 Patton Tank.

I bet that Jay has already bought one of the first 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcats to come off the assembly line.

Class ... something that is painfully missing across the entire US of A.

"I bet that Jay has already bought one of the first 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcats to come off the assembly line."

Well, he did buy a Viper when they came out, then when power was pumped up he bought the newer ones, so it's a pretty good bet he'll have a Hellcat. He did a web show on it with the Dodge honcho...probably his best burnout ever.

My trophy bride (actually participation award rather than trophy) said HELL NO when I told her I wanted one. I have a '69 Hemi Charger 500, bought it new, but it's pretty much a garage queen. A Hellcat would knock down the urge to put miles on a 18,000 mile survivor.

I just need FR to petition her on my behalf....DO IT FOR HISTORY!!!!!

I did too, although I was not quite old enough to understand everything that went on with Jack and the show.
Steve Allen's zaniness, plus his hilarious cast of characters, were much easier on the brain.

Well, it’s only $60k plus $20k dealer markup. Go for it.

While there are a few charging a markup, it doesn't take long to find lots of dealers selling at MSRP. Can't find any willing to go under yet, but that will eventually happen. My local dealer is at MSRP, if you're looking try frederickscatpack.com.
