In one of my all time favorite shows, Gunsmoke, James Arness always shoots second in the opening street gunfight. But, the bad guy always goes down.
This is one reason why the Marines have always been the most effective ground troops we have as they are taught to AIM and then shoot. Not, shoot and Not AIM.
