I don't think it will spiral out of control either but we are a pretty mobile society and people aren't going to want to be locked up when they aren't sick so there will be lies. Some people just plain don't or won't know and will be caught off guard.

There will be loss of control of carriers who are out there. Probably are some already in our very mobile society.

The man in Texas who turned up sick today, maybe not ebola or maybe we won't tell the truth. Hard to keep it under wraps though.

The family got more and earlier exposure than the deputy. So they would have to be infected soon or it would have to be hushed up. Hushing up any family deaths would be quite a trick. For example, a car crash could create a viral mess if the crash victim is infected, but that might suit some interests.
