Not knowing the circumstances of the taping, or the rules regarding reporting past crimes and exceptions to client-therapist privilege, I wonder if the tape is going to be considered inadmissible at some point (legal beagle FReepers, feel free to enlighten me on this point).

I think in a group session there is no doctor-patient privlege. However there is both spousal privlege and doctor/patient privlege.

Collins' estranged wife Faye Grant reportedly recorded the actor during in a therapy session in 2012. You hear Collins confess to the molestations. One of the girls was a relative of his first wife and she was 11 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. TMZ reports the NYPD is in possession of the tape and that two detectives flew to Los Angeles last week to interview Grant.

Which just goes to show that an actor isn't the character he plays on TV.

Yes, I was also surmised to read that a male actor was molesting girls. This is definitely a “man bites dog” story.

With an 11-year-old girl? Pedophilia isn't exactly a badge of honor.

That was my reflexive response, too. It's sad that we've come to this - that we're relieved that the guy wasn't even more perverse.

It’s hearsay. It’s self-incriminatory. It’s confidential. And it’s beyond stale. Any DA would be a fool to prosecute this.

Actors are the lowest of the low. Cannot understand why anyone would look up to them

Actually, the push to normalize paedophilia has been underway for several years—Much of the effort has been documented here on FR. At this point, it’s a toss-up whether polygamy, paedophilia, or bestiality becomes the next cause celebre for the Left.

7th Heaven — s show supposedly about Christians.

Nosy, bossy Christians.

But never once did they ever pray or seek God’s guidance.

The guy’s a cretin and deserves prosecution but there are major problems in pursuing it. His ex-wife violating doctor-patient confidentiality by surreptitiously recording a therapy session is not going to fly.

From last year:

7th Heaven star's wife: I WANT MY HALF

Faye -- an actor herself -- says she gave up her prime acting years to raise their daughter, and now she can't land a job.

She says she got used to an upper class standard of living while married to Collins -- who earned $1 million to $3 million per year while they were together.

She's asking the court for an unspecified amount of spousal support. She also wants half of a $6 million bank account which includes "7th Heaven" money, stat ... and half the value of 2 lavish properties in Brentwood, CA.

Sounds like a nasty situation all the way around.

Also, isn’t it possible that patients describe fantasies in the course of therapy? Still would make Collins a sicko, but not necessarily guilty.

As rapidly as we are going downhill, I expect we will know which one wins by the time of the next Democratic National Convention.

The problem is that it’s not admissible. The ex-wife in her rush to grab half blew it on prosecuting a much more pressing concern than her standard of living.

His wife recorded the conversation in Ca which is legal in that state. Heard some of this on the radio, he is toast.
