I’m sorry to hear of his passing. I’m not sorry, however, for the damage this will do to the perception that getting to the United States by hook or by crook in order to be treated for ebola will be successful. It’ll likely ratchet up the domestic fear level even more, though.

The good news is that those hoping to be saved by coming to the US will not be encouraged. If this guy had survived, everybody exposed would be trying to get in. They might still, but the guy’s death will imply that the US will not give them free serum.
