As U.S. Ebola Fears Widen, Reports of Possible Cases Grow
New York Times ^ | October 4, 2014 | By MANNY FERNANDEZ and ROBERT PEAR

DALLAS — In Washington, a patient who had traveled to Nigeria and who was suspected of having Ebola was placed in isolation at Howard University Hospital on Thursday. In New Haven, two Yale University graduate students plan to sequester themselves when they return this weekend from Liberia, where they have helped the government develop a system to track the Ebola epidemic.

And at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday, a sick man who had just arrived from Brussels was rushed to a hospital amid concerns that he was showing Ebola-like symptoms, a fear later dismissed by hospital officials.

With fears about Ebola widening across the United States, federal health officials said Saturday that they were receiving an escalating number of reports of possible Ebola infection.

In the more than 100 inquiries the C.D.C. has received about possible Ebola, about 15 people were actually tested for the virus, officials at the disease centers said. In addition to doing their own testing on suspected cases, federal officials have helped more than a dozen laboratories around the United States do Ebola testing.

Obama administration officials said they believe that screening of passengers in the affected countries in Africa, by taking their temperature and requesting information about their activities, is the best way to prevent the virus from spreading to the United States.

Yeah, if I thought I contacted Ebola and believed the only possible way to survive was to travel to the USA for the best medical care in the world...

I would lie my arse off...take something to get the fever down and fly...

We need the Yale students in the US tracking Ebola because the CDC certainly can’t.

It’s going to get worse, much much worse. Why? Because everyone involved with protecting the country from things like this is a liberal. A person indoctrinated and spat out by our “Ivy league” schools which is translation for “We don’t know what the hell we are doing but we do know communism is cool man”. These are people who have absolutely no logic when it comes to the difference between safe and unsafe, good and evil, basic 3rd grade logic, so when you get a crisis like this you got these morons using that same kind of logic. “Oh 100 people have Ebola so let’s let them run amok” or “We can’t ban flights because it will hurt Liberia”. “Oh Ebola is just like Aids” when in fact it is one of the most contagious diseases in the world. These are the idiot right now who are standing between you and death. Trust them? Not me, not by a long shot.

The guy running the CDC is a big lib, Tom Frieden who was Bloombergs right hand man when it came to instituting despotism in New York city, banning things that barely harm the populace while promoting things that kill and strong arming small businesses who don’t bother anyone. To call this guy a moron is to call Joe Biden a genius. Obama combined with this fool equals we-are-f**ked BIG time.

The game of Ebola Roulette continues...

*click* spin *click* spin *click* spin…BANG!

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

We’re gonna need

a bigger cart!

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

No problemo. Exposed passengers can keep making their connecting flights, original planes from West Africa can keep departing for a few more runs after a cursory cleanup, including removal of some of the usual detritus left in the back seat pockets by the previous passengers and a quick spritz with Fantastik. Bottom line? All is well, plenty more West African air flights where these come from, anyway. So, nothing to see here folks, please move along. Oh, and be sure to vote a straight Democrat ticket in November: we really DO care about you folks, ya’ll hear? After all:

“Now, I am not on the ballot this fall,” Obama stressed. “... But make no mistake: My policies are on the ballot — every single one of them.”

Barack Hussein Obama, October 2, 2014, Northwestern University

Come on, don’t be to hard on Obama.

Obama is under a lot of stress now days and probably needs another vacation. I understand there are some very nice golf courses in Liberia. He needs some R & R. Maybe other members of Congress would also like to go with him.

Well that's nice but what about their plane ride home? Are they going to wear a hazmat-type suit on the plane, just in case?

"Obama administration officials said… screening of passengers… requesting information about their activities…"

I've seen a lot of movies, and asking information of activities doesn't work. They need to block the borders, and request papers certifying a clean bill of health by doctors! "Vhere are your papers!". Idiots asking questions will always get lies in return. Now if the travelers were blocked and or quarantined on arrival, we might be safer. Obama endangers us all.

He might or might not enjoy going there. You see, people think Obama enjoys golf. No, he just likes playing with the stick, bending over the holes and grabbing the balls. Golfing is a metaphor for what he really enjoys.

—— They need to block the borders, and request papers certifying a clean bill of health by doctors! -——

I read something today that blew me away, there are less than 50 doctors in all of Liberia....it could be a lot less due to doctors getting infected and dying....

The health systems there have collapsed....

You probably can’t get a doctor even to see you, let alone get a clean bill of health...

Unless the Arline’s put a stop to basically a non screening protocols where your word is sufficient to fly, this is going to get a lot worse with potential Ebola cases popping up everywhere...

If these West African countries aren't quarantined with no one allowed to depart, this disease will quickly spread around the world. This quarantine isn't going to happen, so prepare yourselves and your families as best you can to survive the coming pandemic.

"Symptoms usually begin about eight to 10 days after exposure to the virus, but can appear as late as 21 days after exposure, according to the C.D.C. At first, it seems much like the flu: a headache, fever and aches and pains. Sometimes there is also a rash. Diarrhea and vomiting follow."

Then, in about half of the cases, Ebola takes a severe turn, causing victims to hemorrhage. They may vomit blood or pass it in urine, or bleed under the skin or from their eyes or mouths. But bleeding is not usually what kills patients. Rather, blood vessels deep in the body begin leaking fluid, causing blood pressure to plummet so low that the heart, kidneys, liver and other organs begin to fail."

They should be required to buy a refundable ticket 3 or 4 weeks in advance before traveling to the US...or something to stop them from coming if they have it for medical treatment.
