High-level North Korean delegation to attend AG closing ceremony

North Korea plans to send a high-ranking delegation to the Incheon Asian Games closing ceremony Saturday, Seoul's Ministry of Unification said.

According to official sources, the North informed the South on Friday that it wants to send Hwang Pyong-so, Choe Ryong-hae and Kim Yang-gon to the ceremony slated for 6 p.m. Saturday.

The three officials plan to arrive via a direct air route from North Korea to Incheon at 10 a.m.

Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae is expected to hold talks with the North Korean officials after their arrival.

Hwang was recently tapped as the director of the military's General Political Bureau, the top military post in North Korea.

Kim is head of the United Front Department of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, tasked with overseeing the activities of sleeper agents operating in South Korea, while Hwang is said to exert considerable influence in the North despite stepping down from his post of deputy chairman of the National Defense Commission.

Seoul, meanwhile, said it will withhold judgment on why the North is sending such a high-level delegation to Incheon at this juncture. (Yonhap)

Very good guess IMO.......this would not be happening if China didn’t stand to gain exceptional advantages.

I also liked your presentation. Very well done and stated.

Here's that sobering moment when Kim's Uncle was arrested right there in the Parliament....later assumed executed.

The “not seen in public” part about Kimmie the Runt seems to be related to him breaking both ankles tripping around in his high-heeled dancing slippers. According to Chicom news he broke one doing a pass in review parade thing then broke the other one trying to finish the show. If he’s not mobile there’s a lot that could go wrong with his program. He’s a pinkies-on kind of manager, you know?

If Rodman was a double-naught spy, he sure was “deep cover”, I mean look at him.

The country might veer to the left if they are allowed to vote. Imagine attaching all of Central America to the US.

My Dad was in Inchon in the early fifties. If I recall, he thought the whole place sucked.

But he was jaded against Asians since ‘42.

SEOUL Denies anything wrong with Kim:

( course they said same of his father too)

There is nothing wrong with the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, a senior North Korean official said during an extremely rare visit to the South, after rumours of a debilitating illness or even a coup in Pyongyang.

South Korea's unification minister Ryoo Kihl-Jae, speaking on a television talk show Sunday, quoted Kim Yang-Gon as saying: "There is nothing wrong with the health of Secretary Kim".

-------------------------------------------------------- However High ranking exiles came out and said that Kim Jung-un is slowly becoming a “puppet leader” recently and prior.

When Hwang Pyong-so arrived at Incheon Airport on October 4, he was accompanied by bodyguards wearing earpieces for communications with each other. Strange and unfamiliar as it may sound for outside observers, Hwang committed an act that is in fundamental violation of North Korea’s power principle: the absolute authority of the Supreme Leader.

In North Korea, where configurations of power have been upheld on the basis of the Supreme Leader’s absolute authority, it is strictly forbidden for there to be a “second or third most powerful person”. No official other than the Supreme Leader has the right to visible protection.

That Hwang Pyong-so appeared in Incheon Airport accompanied by bodyguards – and not in military uniform either – is a clear surface confirmation that the “Supreme Leader’s absolute authority” no longer serves, in practice, as the unchallengeable pivot for North Korea’s elite power holders. A transformed psychology of power among the core elite in the OGD and beyond have been entrenched to the extent that the Supreme Leader’s exclusive right to public protections can be called on with impunity.

Earlier this year, New Focus reported that the core members of the OGD moved out of Changgwang-dong, where many Central Party cadres are concentrated, and moved into a special zone in the security jurisdiction of the Guards Command.

This visit may have not been planned in advance. This is a highly unusual development. Something is really up in N. Korea.

If something really were up, wouldn't these heavy-hitters stay home to organize their factions to do battle?

Look at his decorations...... Blue (top rows) 5 Green (mid rows) 5 Red (bottom rows) 6 Rather than stars or oakleaves, the recipient recieves a new identical decoration. That is decoration creep to be sure the chest is covered in glory

Since the guy's too young to have fought in the Korean War, I'm gonna say they were medals for having his head so far up the Kim dynasty's rear ends that his noggin was visible every time they opened their gobs.

It appears that Kim is sick. Probably he is not in critical condition, but his condition is bad enough to hamper his mobility. They are not sure if he recovers in time (for big events such as Oct. 10 anniversary.) They might have dispatched the trio to dispel any doubts on his health. If No 2,3,4 can make short trip out of their country together, things are calm in N. Korea(Kim is still in charge.) Otherwise, they would be in the middle of power struggle and cannot have time to leave Pyongyang, as you says.

Unifying Germany..as incredibly difficult and expensive as it was...will look like child's play compared to unifying Korea.

It's certainly possible that they've ganged up on Kim, much as Deng Xiaoping brought Hua Guofeng to heel in 1978. Chinese-style rule by party committee may replace the Kim Dynasty's neo-monarchical reign.
