Mitt Romney didn’t declare a party on his Utah voter registration form. Intrigue!

Mitt Romney just made a savvy next step in his quiet, camouflaged 2016 campaign. Like a growing number of Americans, Romney refused to declare a political party when he filled out a new voter registration reform in Utah. It's the sort of party-rejecting step that could position a reinvented Romney to become America's first non-Democrat or Republican president since the 1800s.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the new Utah registration form completed and signed by Romney last August deliberately leaves out any party identification. As the Republican nominee in 2012 and a Republican candidate in 2008, this would seem to suggest either a rejection of his party or, perhaps, some sort of clerical error. Or maybe it's neither.

Here in Michigan we don’t make a party declaration aside from asking for a republican or democrat primary ballot.

Same here in Illinois.

I had to show my id. today at the phone company but don't have to show it to vote.

Yes....surely it was that way in 1976. Gerald Ford may have belonged to the Republican Party but his voter registration card didn’t say that.

Michigan is a must ask state when it comes to ID for voting.

They have to ask but you don’t have to show it. However if you don’t show ID you have to sign an affidavit and with all the new auditing laws put in place recently, its a good way to get caught.

[At this point in this article -- a Friday lark riffing on a thing that is amusing to political die-hards -- we'd like to point out that we are not being sincere. (Hopefully you had already realized that.) It was all a mistake on the Depart of Motor Vehicle's part, as the original SLT article makes clear; Romney is and will remain a Republican. Why point out that this is a joke in the middle of the article? Because that is funnier.

Nobody reads the whole article, not even the person posting it! p

the way some of the GOP treated him—I understand—Huckabee stabbed him in the back in the Primary and Christie kicked him in the balls just before the election (getting all kissy face with Obama). The tea party abandoned him as a RINO and even Mormons sat on their hands and didn’t bother to vote. Ask yourself—Was Mitt that bad? is Obama better? Would Mitt have let Ebola in the nation? Would he have sent in troops? Mitt Romney—Not the best guy but a whole lot better than Obama—six ways to Sunday.

Yes, he was that bad. Horrible, in fact. A ringer. That anyone excuses him at all and claims to be a Conservative needs to spend some time at the nearest nervous hospital.

Besides, he's a Mormon and Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer for brothers. THEY STILL DO. How WRONG can a faith be? If Mitt believes THAT they why would I want him in charge of our Christian country?

Yes he sold his house in Belmont MA

Didn't he move there from NH so he could run for gov of MA? That was to defeat Jim Toomey, an excellent conservative frontrunner for the nomination). There were assurances that he would choose Toomey as his LtGov....he didn't. This was one of the RINO conspiracies to keep a conservative out of power and put their favorite globalist in a position of power.

Romney is just another RINO on the list of proclaimed "frontrunners" they're going to burden us during this election cycle.
