(CNN) -- Three Dallas County sheriff's deputies have been placed on leave after helping deliver court orders to family members of Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan, Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Carmen Castro said Friday.

The trio escorted a Dallas County Health and Human Services worker on Wednesday who was delivering the orders to an apartment in Dallas. The orders placed four family members inside the apartment under quarantine until October 19. Castro says the deputies' leave is precautionary for their peace of mind.

Duncan became the first person diagnosed with Ebola on American soil when he was hospitalized days after his arrival from Liberia. The deadly virus has killed more than 3,300 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

This has probably been carried in the Texas newspapers, but is this Duncan character on any form of welfare?

I don’t understand why the family hasn’t been moved out of the apartment to a place away from close proximity to neighbors.

Taxpayers are already picking up the entire tab, might as well pay to put them in a FEMA trailer somewhere where they can get outside without being in close contact with the neighbors.

The apartment can be properly sanitized and they can return as soon as the quarantine is over.

They are going to have to burn down that apartment building, in the end.

Imagine the lawsuit when the new renter learns “That is where those people that had Ebola lived!”

Brick up the entire apartment, no more food deliveries, nothing and no chance of spreading any infection any further. Sucks to be them but if you don’t cooperate then the rule about the “needs of the many” should apply.

President Obola will get a coalition with the UN to fire bomb Texas. WHO let the dogs out will monitor the containment.

The way the CDC described transmission, I bet people think you can only get it from sex.

From the article:

...five students came in contact with Duncan.

On Thursday, district spokesman Andre Riley told CNN that one of those students went to Sam Tasby Middle School on Wednesday.

“We’re not sure why the Tasby student showed up for school on Wednesday but, once he was identified, he was asked to go to the nurse’s office so that a parent could be contacted,” Riley said in an email. “During the limited time he was on campus, he showed no symptoms.”

A patient with Ebola-like symptoms is being treated at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., a hospital spokesperson confirmed late Friday morning.

The patient had traveled to Nigeria recently.

That person has been admitted to the hospital in stable condition, and is being isolated and tested. The medical team is working with the CDC to determine whether the patient has Ebola.

“In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient,” said hospital spokesperson Kerry-Ann Hamilton in a statement. “Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health.”

Hamilton did not share further details about the patient, citing privacy reasons, but said the hospital will provide updates as warranted.

Last winter, my wife in KY and my brother in Seattle had really bad ebola-like symptoms. Both of them had a bad flu strain.

Depends on how this plays out. If this guy doesn’t die and none of his family gets it, it becomes a non-issue. If he doesn’t die, but one of his family members gets it and also doesn’t die, it’s a non-issue.

If he dies and everyone in his family dies, it’s an issue.

We’re in the public fear part of this thing right now. Not having TV, I only read about it on FR. It’s a minor story to me until the fatalities ON US SOIL reach four digits in a relatively short period of time. There are a lot more important and real dangers to worry about.

Not yet. He just got fired from his job in Africa, which is why he decided to come to the US. He knows he can just enter the USA and get taken care of for the rest of his life.

His employer said he didn’t show up for work. You have different information?

Also, there is a possibility that his ‘partner’ came in through the open border with her undocumented children. Her Facebook page says she lives in some Central American country, maybe Equador.
