Pretty sure the virus has jumped species into monkeys and also mutated where it lives-on for a while instead of just burning itself out quickly as it did when first discovered. Absolute worst-case scenario.
Poor people don’t have much protein in their diet, so will eat dogs, cats, monkeys etc. Pioneers ate locusts and rattlsnakes...Bats are mammals, so why not.
For this epidemic, however, the patient zero was a two year old, and they are’t sure how he caught it.

Gee, if we weren't using a good chunk of our corn for Ethanol we could produce more beef to export, or export the corn so they may build their own Beef Growing Industry. Nah, we need a Bill Gate-ish approach with a large not profit controlled by bazillionaires to fund nets to coral the bats, and to immunize them..
