For the first time, Russia, which is in the midst of a major strategic nuclear modernization, has more deployed nuclear warheads than the United States, according to the latest numbers released by the State Department.
Russia now has 1,643 warheads deployed on intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers. The United States has 1,642, said the fact sheet released Wednesday.

Probably not. The Russians are not famous for accuracy when it comes to their military.

Just as a matter of academic interest, how many nukes would it take to cover every, single, square inch of the planet in nuclear fire?

Obama is turning us into Number 2 in more ways than one.

Not sure I get the problem here. 300 nuclear weapons would be sufficient to destroy every town with a population of over 50,000 in Russia with an additional 1,300 deployed devices in reserve.

Reagan is probably turning in his grave....
Hell... Lots of other dead presidents are likely turning in their graves too, for various reasons.
I’m surprised Washington hasn’t come back, and shot some people.

Old news. Anyone else old enough to remember the infamous "missile gap" from the 60s?
It was BS back then, and probably still is.

So... can we infer from that, since there are six continents (aside from Antarctica), that we would need only 6x300 - or 1800 (give or take) - to blanket the entire population of Planet Earth in fire...?

“Russia now has 1,643 warheads deployed on intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers. The United States has 1,642, said the fact sheet released Wednesday. “
All this means is that Russia has one more overkill nuke than we do. Its meaningless.

And I don’t think they have built a new boomer (ICBM sub) in more than 25 years. From what I have read, most of their boomer fleet is rusting away at the pier.

Government exists solely for the purpose of perpetuating government as a source of livelihood for its participants.
Defense is not needed since America caused all the world’s problems anyway.
Just think of the new Islamic/Marxist utopia which will replace US hegemony.
I think that about wraps up the Administration view?
