George W. Bush: Jeb 'wants' presidency
The Hill ^ | October 2, 2014 | Cameron Joseph

Posted on 10/02/2014 7:23:11 AM PDT by maggief

Former President George W. Bush said Thursday that thinks his brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), wants to be president.

"I think he wants to be president, I think he'd be a great president. He understands what it's like to be president," Bush said in a Fox News interview. "He's seen his dad, he's seen his brother. He's a very thoughtful man and he’s weighing his options." The Bush brothers met in Dallas on Wednesday, and the former president said he was "pushing" his brother to run.

"He, of course, was saying 'I haven’t made up my mind,' and I truly don't think he has," he said. "I don't think he liked it that his older brother was pushing him."

Jeb Bush has long been seen as a White House contender in 2016. Big donors in the GOP establishment have pined for him to run, as has Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

But Jeb Bush could face opposition from grassroots conservatives who oppose his views on immigration and support for Common Core education reforms.

We've had enough damage done by a Bush in this country. Jeb is a joke in my book and I could /would never vote for him.

Jeb can crap in one hand, wish in the other and see which fills up first.

The US needs to mark the end of political dynasties of every stripe, IMO

The swooning about Chelsea Clinton's baby was like the birth of a royal heir.

About the only thing interesting was the fact that she's actually married to a man...who is allegedly the father.

Great. So he gets Florida for the GOP, but conservative turnout is depressed everywhere else, and the other swing states (most of which he’ll need to get past 270) fall to the Beast.

And even if he does win, he’s too damn liberal. I wouldn’t even trust his court nominees.

Conservatives WIN. How many failed candidates will it take for party leadership to realize this?

When I’m looking for a leader, I look for people who are leading. I look for people who are in the fight.

Guys like Jeb, and Romney as another example, carefully avoid getting into fights until they have lined up all their chess pieces and carefully crafted their positions, and focus-group-tested all of their supposed principles.

They reserve most of their fire for rivals within their own party, trying to knock people out of the running ahead of the primaries. They do not go after their enemies in the opposing party, because that would attract attention they aren’t ready for yet.

They are not leaders and they certainly are not fighters.

If you want a leader, look to see who is already in the fight. Against the other party, not against their own.

Jeb should just run as a democrat given that he supports what they support.

Jeb Bush, Christie, Rubio, and Romney are completely unacceptable. We need a conservative, not another RINO.

Well personally I'd like to see primaries with five RINOs and Ted Cruz.

Jeb has less chance of winning than Romney or the Pillsbury Dough boy, both of whom have a slim chance, but still better than Jeb’s zero chance.

Will we never be free from these jerks?

It’s Jebbie’s turn and then he can hand it off to his offspring?

I’d vote for some guy that hawks cheap Chinese products on TV at 2:30 a.m. before I’d vote for a Bush.
