Bubble Trouble - What 2014 Demographic Trends Show About Urban Life (Harry Dent)

Demographic trends clearly show that as any emerging or more developed country urbanizes, people tend to have fewer kids. Urban life costs more and people tend to be more highly educated and naturally, they want to better educate their kids… so they choose to have one or two.

Nearly 25% choose their well-paid careers and social life over having children.

Almost all developed countries are experiencing a slowing down of their economies due to fewer kids and sluggish demographic growth.

The best English-speaking countries like Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, Canada and New Zealand have offset such slowing to some degree, or even fully, with high immigration. Immigrating households, especially the Chinese, tend to prefer a wealthy country where their kids can get a high-quality English-language education.

Other countries ranging from Japan and South Korea to Germany and Italy (to name a few) have steep demographic cliffs ahead. They’re not only having fewer kids but aren’t attracting substantial immigration. Most developed countries fall into this category of “decliners”…

“Decliners” are countries with futures made up of declining workforces and shrinking populations.

Ask Japan how hard it is to stimulate your way out of that. It’s been flat lining since 1990 after almost two decades of money printing and massive fiscal deficits.

There’s another trend that leads to fewer kids and slower demographic growth and decline in the future… not getting married at all.

The U.S. Census Bureau recently announced that single people became a majority in the U.S. for the first time reaching 50.2%.

My 46 year old highly educated son (only child) is not married, has no kids and no plans for either.

I'll never have grandkids.

The US has been de-urbanizing since WW II and yet our birthrates have plummeted.

Only 145 million Russians and that includes a bunch of immigrant moslems as well.

I resemble your son, but I DO want kids and marriage. I'm financially secure, lots of interests/hobbies, told I'm good looking. Problem is finding a woman who is a Christian, who wants both kids and marriage.

I've dated quite a bit and it seems that when you get down to the bottom line, many women who initially SAY they are interested in marriage and kids are just saying it to create more dating options. They really either just want sex, just want someone to show them a good time, or want to keep dating as many guys as possible, keep as many "on the hook" as they can until they find someone completely out of their league to marry.

I've become rather disillusioned. Also, I was married for over a decade to someone who decided, after we finally had the financial security we had waited for, that she didn't want kids after all and took off to "find herself".

Not what they mean. They’re referring to urban vs. rural, usually subsistence agriculture. Not urban vs. suburban.

Almost nobody in the US leads a rural lifestyle in the sense they mean.

Two comments:

First, if that's true, then the undeveloped countries will eventually benefit from developed medicine, and wildly outnumber the populated countries. Consequences: War, conquest, famine, a new cycle.

That natural order can be distorted if the costs of developed life are thrown on others through an over-generous welfare system. It will create overpopulated welfare pits of people who have the same attitudes common in undeveloped areas. And, it has.

I very nearly went this route myself. I only didn't because I found the right woman with good values, but it was a near run thing. I'm in my early thirties and, to tell the truth, I don't blame the guys like your son who eschew the whole thing. There are a lot of reasons why this is happening, but combined, they boil down to a simple truth:

For the most part, getting married and having a family simply is not worth it anymore.

These aren't a bad option (worked for me, after years of trying) but lamb-slave and anyone else considering one should remember one thing: you don't actually have to be a christian or act like one to join such a site.

Switzerland an English-speaking country? No substantial immigration to Germany? What’s that guy smoking?

No, haven’t done any internet dating; friends have all told me so many horror stories I thought meeting women in person through church/friends/work was more likely to weed out bad choices. Not that it’s worked, lol.

If Catholics are OK with you, you could import a nice Filipina bride - they have tight families and tend to be happy and good company.

If Orthodox Christianity is your thing, there is Russia and the surrounding area.

If you are looking for a particular Protestant denomination, you could check with your church to see where they have the biggest presence overseas.

In any event, there are significant cultural differences around the world, an American culture is much less family friendly than it used to be. American men are a really attractive option to many women around the world, as we are good providers and treat them kindly
