The extended solar minimum and magnetic field deviation are problems. As the magnetic field moves around more quickly, the molten outer core moves around more quickly under the crust. The magnetic field weakens and provides less protection from rays. Unusual weather patterns develop. Volcanism and seismicity also increase. The magnetic field, as it is, exists because of the outer core (mostly iron and nickel). Maybe we can build a special laser-tunnelling segmented train thing and send it into the planet's core, where the crew can explode a series of nuclear devices to make the core spin slower!
