WASHINGTON – Secret Service boss Julia Pierson suddenly resigned Wednesday — a day after getting hammered in Congress over troubling White House security breaches.
“Today Julia Pierson, the Director of the United States Secret Service, offered her resignation, and I accepted it,” said Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson named as acting director of the troubled agency Joseph Clancy, the former Special Agent in Charge of the division that overseas protection of the president and his family.
Pierson came under intense fire over a stunning security breach Sept. 19, when armed Iraq war veteran Omar Gonzalez jumped the White House fence, sprinted across the lawn and made it past the front door and inside the White House while carrying a small knife.
Early Wednesday, powerful lawmakers from both parties called on her to go.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the Government Oversight Committee – and normally an administration defender — told MSNBC Wednesday he does “not feel comfortable with her in that position.”

My guess is the REAL agents despised this woman, and her hire, and did their minor best at their job. Unfortunate, but I think that’s true. After all, she’d only done administrative chit in her past.

My guess is that every SS agent in the White Hut that day, with the exception of the off-duty agent who actually took down the intruder, will end up being demoted or fired...

They never should have moved the Secret Service from the Dept. of the Treasury in the first place! That removed all the high moral, honor and mystique of the S.S.!!!
She wasn't just an admin chick shoved into this position. I saw somewhere that, years ago, Miss Pierson was protecting GWB. I can't imagine the BS that probably surrounds this. (is there ANYTHING in this administration that isn't surrounded by complete BS?)
For all we know, she tried in vain to make changes, maybe even do some firings and rearranging and was told to just shut up. I certainly would not put it past this administration at all.
Look at our borders....seriously? We're going to get all "OMG!" about what is allowed at the WH? To me, the "invasion" at the WH borders represents what is happenening at our country's borders....and he is a double-standard retarded hypocrite for being outraged.

SS supervisors who had mapped out the security plan said they were taken aback-------b/c Pierson, who worked during high school at Walt Disney World as a costumed character and park attendant, told them: “We need to be more like Disney World.......more friendly, inviting.”

Security people are NOT suppose to be like Disney characters. Secret Service agents should be the opposite of 'Disney' - - serious, well trained, slightly intimidating because of their professional calmness - NOT Goofy. Definitely not Goofy... (no pun intended...)

I’m surprised that she didn’t take away the guns from the SS agents and give them whistles instead.
Her actions above and what we don’t know about are typical of a pc liberal when they have to make hard decisions.
Although it would be hard to beat the Mandela Memorial vision of Obama w/ the fake interpreter....and why the SS did not know he was a CRAZED MURDERER.
Maybe Julia thought he was just a happy-go-lucky "Uncle Remus" ......about to break into song?
It was terrifying to see her testify---knowing this numbskull who could not even answer a simple question---was actually "in charge" of WH security.

There’s no way this chunky chick had ever been an actual security type. Certain things are always telling. That wad of hair she wears absolutely destroys anything she might have had for peripheral vision. And the habit of keeping one’s self trimmed up and slicked down to be in fighting shape doesn’t fade away quickly. I doubt this beady-eyed cretin ever passed a gummint driving test let alone target, reflex, etc. From her appearance in that hearing she wouldn’t have been allowed INSIDE my own security area never mind WORK in it.
