There was a long thread on hear about a possible pandemic from years ago. I need to run, but will try to find it. Written by a pandemic researcher. She basically said that when you first hear the news of it, probably originating in Africa, that you need to be ready to stop everything and hunker down. That by the time you hear the news - there is the possibility that someone has already hopped a flight and brought it to your community.
Pretty hard to do.
But when DO we “hunker down”? When it hits the U.S. When it hits your Region? Your town?
That’s an important question. One read article i read suggested that once it’s confirmed within a 100 miles of you then it’s time to seriously consider “hunkering down”. I work in the restaurant industry so my chance Of exposure could be considerable, since I work off I-81 and people travel through all the time. I’m off Friday and Sat and plan on getting considerable reserves of food and water.
I don’t know though when that actual moment, God willing never, will be when I have to tell my job that I’m riding this out the next month at home.
