As well as encouraging the Iatollah Khumenies return and ousting the Shah of Iran. The whole middle east would be different today. Another case of choosing the wrong horse.
As I remember it, Jimma got mad because the Shah would not go along with a scheme one of Jimma’s friends had to get a kickback from a construction project in Iran. Carter got so mad he facilitated the Shah’s removal.
So the entire Iran mess could have been avoided if the Shah had been as crooked as Jimma. And think of all the lives that could have been saved.
