Certain cars attract certain drivers.
Owners of the turbocharged all-wheel-drive Subaru WRX get more tickets than any other car, with one in every three owners reporting a traffic violation in the past three years, according to a recent study by Insurance.com.
The fact that you have a WRX is not causing you to get a ticket, explains Des Toups, Managing Editor of the insurance shopping site. You are.
Owners of the Pontiac GTO, Scion FR-S, Toyota Supra and Subaru Tribeca rounded out the top five spots. The data was based on info provided by 557,238 drivers shopping for car insurance from January 1, 2013 to July 2014. While nearly one in five owners have reported getting a ticket in the last three years, owners of the top five are ticketed at a rate much closer to one in three, despite more high-performance sports cars coming in under the radar.
Its not about horsepower, Toups says. The Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper and Nissan GT-R rank well below average for tickets. You can have incredibly powerful cars that are cheap to insure because theyre driven by a more mature demographic.

FJ’s call for premium gas? They must be fast with that jet fuel.
Mebbe they think you are in a funeral procession?
Just jerkin' yer chain.........
Runs on regular.
My son calls those “The Dictator Special”
Don’t mean anything negative towards you or your car-just thought what he said was kind of funny.
I think old Yukons are the poor man’s Escalade
Last time I looked the engine needed premium. And it used a backup camera, rear vision was bad. But this may be the last year for them, so I’m going to look again, esp. if they run on 87.
have you seen how women drive minivans today?!?!? seriously dude.
A lot of the cars on the list are cars I associate with entitled liberals, so the ticket stats don’t surprise me.
It might be that certain cars are more likely to attract law enforcement...
Maybe these cars are extra annoying to LEOs
I can’t stand those boxy little things
We drove our 1982 Volvo 240DL for over 250K miles. I remember its being a super safe car. There was one report that stated that fewer than one person in 100,000 driving a Volvo 240DL died in a wreck. I think it was partly the car’s safety and partly the kind of person who would drive that make/model. And those who drive the cars with more tickets, are more prone to speeding, etc.
I’ve never had a ticket, I am 63, been driving since I was 15.
My husband teases me that it is because I drive so fast, cops can’t catch me! LOL
My very hetero son drives one, and now my married with children daughter drives one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honda is the gay car.
We inherited a 1996 Cadillac when grandpa passed away. Great car! Still looks brand new. Rides smooth as butter! Husband drives it to work every day in Houston, it’s an hour drive each way!
We had kids in college and didn’t buy a new car for ourselves from 1995-2011. Then we bought a new V.W. Tiguan. Great car! Love everything about it, including the built in dashboard GPS!
BTW, hubby drives a 1990 Porsche 911 Carerra. Looks better than brand new, mint condition. It is now worth more than we paid for it. So long as it is in mint condition, it goes up in value every year. Man that car is super FAST!
Low Testosterone? Huh? Our son is over 6 ft tall, over 200 lbs, body builder, mixed martial arts, also a street preacher, strong Christian, who at 30 doesn’t smoke, cuss, drink, lie, speed, etc. He is very mature for his 30 years. But if anything he has Too much testosterone! He gave his life over to Christ many years ago, and is such a good man!
I drove a Mercedes 300D in Germany and it was no slouch. 200 km/h on the Autobahn and no trouble getting there. The 240D was another matter.
