He lived in a world with considerable racism but chose to rise above it rather than wallow in it. He chose to help the poor both black and white through pure charity (doing it himself) and free market means.

I remember interviewing a black welfare mom that had a full house of kids. I asked her on earth could she make it and without batting an eyelash she said she got $146 per kid every month and received foodstamps (which were in the hundreds because if the number of children) and that her rent was paid by the government. A few times when I had to run her down again I knew where to find her; either at a gambling hall in town or a neighbor’s house where she was playing poker.
She had no reason to work.

Exactly the point.
Those people weren’t dressing differently, listening to different music, giving themselves “African” names or speaking “black slang”. They were simply trying to mix into American society and culture.
Yes. The “melting pot” era. We need to bring that back.
Culture is about values.
Values are chosen by each one of us.
So the important question is “Why would such a disproportionate number of people of a particular group choose values that have been shown to result in utter failure?”
The Black community, so called, has taken Horatio Alger’s message of ‘success at any personal price’ and turned it on its head, such that it is now, “Our success at any price to America and other Americans.”
Sign of the times in which we live.
Poverty is because they never print enough money for the poor, only for the rich.
Because, white privilege.
Leaving out the ‘o’ is a sign of respect for people who feel we should not say ‘The Name. I’m good with it... either way...

No problem. As with everything else, there is always some question about every aspect of everyones view but I thought this one was good. Sadly, it isn’t just the african-Americans that can’t figure out that ya gotta work to get stuff. Lots of younger folks today don’t have that work ethic ingrained. That’s why I try to thank the kids working at McD or Taco Bell or Subway for being there and doing what needs to be done.
