To a point. Treatment isn't effective on every carrier, and for the ones that do respond, the severe side effects of the meds can be life-threatening, or at least life-shortening.
Additionally, failure to abide by a strict medication regiment (measured by HOURS) can cause the virus to mutate, decreasing the effectiveness of the treatment for the carrier. And homos aren't known for being the most responsible individuals, considering that they contracted the disease in the first place.
