Say whatever you like about McCain and Romney but both:
1) Opposed Obamacare
2) Opposed Dodd-Frank
3) Opposed the Porkulus
4) Opposed Cap and Trade
RR was my all time favorite POTUS of my lifetime. Jesse Helms was my all time favorite US Senator. John Ashbrook was my all time favorite congressman. But there will never be another RR, Jesse Helms, or John Ashbrook. We have to work with what we have.
But ask yourself why will there never be another Reagan? I will stipulate that McCain or Romney would be less damaging than Obama, but they would still be damaging. By electing their likes maybe the country bottoms out in 50 years instead of 30 but we would still have only two choices, bad or worse. I want the Republicans to figure out that they either need to be good, or be gone and that will never happen as long as the McConnels of the world keep getting re-elected by being “better than the rat”.
