Sen. Ted. Cruz (R-Texas) on Monday slammed the Obama administration's foreign policy track record, saying the global community is calling out for U.S. intervention.
Were beginning to see what a world without American leadership looks like, he said at the National Security Action Summit in Washington.
The policies of appeasement and leading from behind are not working, he added.
Cruz, who is widely expected to be a GOP presidential nominee in 2016, rattled off a list of foreign policy failures, naming the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which he said is on a murderous rampage across the Middle East. Cruz also skewered the president for not taking a tougher stance against Russia following months of belligerent behavior toward Ukraine, and he warned of an aggressive and bellicose China.
He said each emergency could be traced back to foreign policy decisions Obama made early in his first term, including the decision not to support the 2009 Green Revolution in Iran, canceling the deployment of missile defense systems to eastern Europe and not addressing Beijings human rights record.
With perspective of six years, rather than new order of international harmony, countries are calling out for U.S. leadership, according to Cruz.
The alternatives, from ISIS to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, are not appealing, he added.
Cruz said the U.S. should show leadership by standing firmly and unshakably with Israel, preventing Kiev from being blackmailed by Russia for its energy needs and offering support to Chinese dissidents.
While these are dark times ... some times things need to get really bad to wake people from their slumber, he said.

Any country with debt bigger than it’s GDP needs to get out of bankruptcy first. Get our fiscal situation in order before borrowing more money from China for foreign military adventures.
I know, reality is a bitch.
“Dark times....” dats raciz.
I like the reality you’ve got on your homepage.
After these changes are made, we should consider a "war" tax surcharge to fund what is necessary.
Thank you. At my age if one has not learned to live with reality, one would not last very long. I am Happy at Medicare age!
You are exactly correct. It will take a very strong leader who is not afraid to make tough decisions. It is always to more difficult to take away stuff than give away stuff to people. Jeb, Mitt, etc are certainly not those tough leaders.
WWIII has already started and we desparately need a combo of Winston Churchill and Charles "the Hammer" Martel.
Cruz/Lee 2016!
BTTT!
Somehow absent from your scorn for spending is entitlement spending? Where have I heard that before?
When the Media states that obama leads from behind; is that a polite way of saying he has his head up his A$$?
The truth sometimes smarts.
Do not make the stupid mistake of defending Iraq’s borders before defending our own borders first!
You can defend nothing with empty pockets!
First learn to read the fiscal situation of country.
If you have not realized the dire economic situation we are in, there is nothing more I want to hear from you.
After that is fixed we can again take on the role of world policeman.
In the meanwhile,
Did Churchill have a $18,000,000,000,000 national debt hanging over his head?
I know Chicago democrats like the back of my hand.
I spent 30+ years of my adult life in Chicago.
Obummer does not give a rat’s behind for this country.
He has a mental problem about race.
He wants all Americans to descend to the lowest denominator.
That way no one has to feel inferior.
And he spent his formative years growing up in a devout Muslim home. Anything he does in Muslim middle-east will be with that mindset, consciously or unconsciously. Hie biological father was also a communist. Blood is thicker than water.
