As I have commonly stated, trade jobs are both under hyped an underrated. One can be an electrician, carpenter, arborist, or other certified trade and make a decent income.
Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs has been an ambassador for the trades, promoting jobs where you get certified in a few months to a year or two and make up to 100K. They are begging for diesel mechanics for mining equipment, jet engines, industrial equipment and so forth. There aren’t enough welders, plumbers, electricians and such. And unlike the no-skill shovel work, they can’t be done by someone who just walked across the border.
