There was a guy I worked with at Cal state prison, Solano. He was ex military, and was working at LAX. He kept bugging them to transfer to SFO. he told them if they did not transfer him, he would quit. They did not believe him. He loaded up his truck and left them high and dry. Next thing we know, he is wearing a correctional officer badge. It was 99% purely routine, and 1% pure stark raving terror. I much preferred the 99%.
I knew another guy I helped train at Laughlin, who is now as supervisor at LAX TRACON. Sharp guy, but the best controller I ever saw was a black female from Tennessee. That woman could really move aluminum around the sky.
