I know this is a little off topic, but why is the term “czar” so popular among Leftists? Are Dems really that in love with Russian style authoritarianism?

i use czar, king and queen when describing someone who is in charge of something or who has a lot of knowledge on a subject... sometimes i use guru... Bill Bennett was often referred to as the Education Czar or Drug Czar when he held those positions under Ronald Reagan and George H. Bush...

True to their Bolshevik nature, Leftists take an Orwellian approach to language and use it to mislead and obscure truth. They use a pre-Revolution monarchist "czar" as a smokescreen to preclude the use of the more accurate title "Commissar" and the more fitting Communist authoritarian inspiration.

Just as Stalin used the name "Bolshevik" (Russian for "majority") to hide the fact that his faction was a "minority" even among the Russian revolutionary factions.

Just as the Soviet party propaganda newspaper was called "Pravda" or "Truth" in Russian.

Just more of the same from The Ministry of Truth!
