Stranger sees 'Daddy needs a kidney' plea online, offers his

A Texas man decided to step up and save the life of a total stranger hundreds of miles away after seeing the man's two young daughters plead that "Our Daddy needs a kidney." After Greensboro, Ga., police officer Raleigh Callaway went into stage 5 kidney failure, the 49-year-old's wife put the photo of the girls holding a sign online in a last-ditch effort to find a donor, USA Today reports.

After Chris Carroll saw the photo, he was tested, discovered he was a perfect match, and headed to Georgia with his wife. "I just knew. Even though there were thousands of people who called in. I just had a feeling that it was going to happen," says Carroll.

"We're supposed to love one another. We're supposed to sacrifice for one another." "It's just so important for me to continue to live, and to take care of my family," says Callaway, who is "thanking God for allowing such a wonderful family to just come into my life." The surgery took place yesterday—less than 10 weeks after Carroll first saw the photo—and both men are recovering in an Atlanta hospital, reports 11 Alive.

When you stand before God...this would be a good item to have on your report.

I haven’t said anything about this here because..well, this is sort of my escape from real life at this time.

2 weeks ago, my husband of 37 years decided he had had enough of living. My only demands at the hospital were for the staff to keep him alive until our oldest son could get here from 4 hours away AND that they made it so my husband could donate as many organs as possible. I demanded that some good come out of something so horrible.

After 2 days, all the testing and matching was done and we let him go. All that time I knew that if God had really wanted him, He could have circumvented the machines. But God didn’t, the donees got all line up, and one day after life support was removed, 3 people were alive because hubby’s liver and both kidneys were able to save their lives. I haven’t gotten the tissues, etc report (man, you can donate tons of stuff!), but just knowing hubby’s death meant 3 people are alive today gives me comfort beyond belief.

So, tell the driver license people you want to donate organs. In our case, hubby’s license wasnt’ with his body, so they asked me. I was like “of course!” When we got his license back, there it was, that little red heart on the front, signifying donor.

Sorry, I kind of made this about me. The important thing is donate!!!

I’ve got an ever better smack-down from the Lord Jesus Himself:

Luk 17:10 “So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’”

I work with a woman who has advanced kidney disease, and needed a transplant. She was laid off from the company for about 6 months, and then returned. During that time, she had started peritoneal dialysis, which was not going well.

The guy at the checkout in the cafeteria asked her how she was doing - not many people knew of her issues, but he was aware of her story. She mentioned that she was struggling with the dialysis, and hoped that she was moving up on the transplant list so it would happen soon. He said, "Oh, you mean a kidney transplant would help you? I've got two kidneys" And he immediately began the testing to see if it was possible. Turns out that he, too was a perfect match.

The testing is nearing completion, but it turns out his sacrifice was not needed. Last week she received a call that she needed to report to the hospital that day, and her transplant was performed. It's unfortunate that the reason she got her kidney was due to someone else's loss, but I hope that the family is comforted by knowing that a part of their loved one will live on.
