Seminole County schools evacuated after bomb threats (Central Florida)

Elementary schools in Seminole County were evacuated this afternoon after receiving bomb threats, a Seminole County Sheriff's spokeswoman said.

Deputies evacuated Casselberry, Winter Springs, Lawton, English Estates, Red Bug, Lake Orienta, Forest City and Spring Lake elementary schools, sheriff's spokeswoman Heather Smith said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear whether the threats were valid.

Deputies are investigating where the calls came from.

Officials are reporting that Winter Springs, Forest City and Lake Orienta have been searched and cleared.

Back in the late 1960s in college, bomb threats were not uncommon. Usually happened during midterms or finals. No one got caught. Actually I don’t think they were really investigated. Everyone knew they were bogus.

These clowns never give advance warning. They may be checking response times or maybe it's just some sympathizer trying to disrupt the system. Meanwhile the kids and parents are certainly terrified.

Do they have any idea of the number of different call-in lines used? Were the call-in times all simultaneous or synchronized? Were the call-in times recorded at all the locations called? Was this a single (one) call-in that threatened all the county schools in Seminole County?
