Sources: Milton Wolf weighs Greg Orman endorsement

Milton Wolf, the tea party candidate who battled Sen. Pat Roberts in a bitter Republican primary fight, is considering some political payback: Endorsing Kansas independent Greg Orman, sources said Thursday night.

But there’s a big catch: To win Wolf’s endorsement, Orman must first agree to caucus with the Senate GOP if he were to defeat Roberts in the general election.

The two men were scheduled to meet Friday afternoon at Orman’s house in Olathe, Kansas., just outside of Kansas City, according to two people familiar with the matter. One person said Orman’s team sought the meeting but there was no ask for an endorsement. Another source said the meeting may be canceled now that the media have caught wind of it.

“Milton is going to make an ask that [Orman] consider making a public commitment to caucus with the Republican Party, regardless of the outcome of the November elections,” one person familiar with the matter said.

Another person said: “I think if Orman agrees to Wolf’s terms, it means the end of Roberts.”

Ask those geniuses at GOP central how they like triangulation now. Remember Mississippi?

But is it worth doing that? When Democrats win, it’s not Republican incumbents who lose...they go into lobbying and so on and make even more money. It’s us who loses.

This idea of “teaching them a lesson” is simply phony. It doesn’t work that way.

I didn’t follow this primary fight. Was it as nasty as the Mississippi primary?

Pretty much. Roberts ran on Wolf’s strange Facebook posts. Wolf ran on the fact that Roberts hasn’t had a home in Kansas for decades.

I think that would be a bad move on Wolf’s part.

Agreed. Pat Roberts isn’t ideal, but he’s far from the biggest problem in Washington. We need to keep that seat Republican. There are stands to make, but this is not one of them. There are a couple incumbents that I would not mind seeing gone in November (we’re looking at you, Mississippi), but Roberts won fair and square and we need that seat.

And of course, by being logical and reasonable and strategic in your thinking, some of the FR lo info's will come on and call you a "RINO lover" and so on.....waiting for them to attack you....3....2....1.....

I won’t be voting for Roberts in November. I’m not voting for anymore establishment R’s. But I also won’t vote for Orman.

From his website under “Reproductive Rights”:
“We’ve spent a lot of time over the last two decades debating whether or not women should have the right to make decisions about their own reproductive health. As a man,I’ll never have to face some of the decisions that women have to make. I know the women of Kansas are smart, and I trust them to make their own decisions about their reproductive health.”

From his section on “Supreme Court”:
“......In the Hobby Lobby case, the Court ruled that certain types of corporations can have religious values and as a result of that be able to deny types of healthcare to their employees because of the corporation’s views. This is a dangerous precedent to set and opens the door to many more court challenges from private employers.”

He’s scum.

And he ran on the fact that Roberts wouldn’t debate him.

Maybe he did run on Reid and 0care, but I don’t watch TV so only heard his commercials on the radio.

From the point of view of keeping the seat Republican, Wolf is doing the right thing. The reality is that Orman has a good chance of winning the seat anyway. If Wolf can get him to commit to caucusing with the GOP, the seat is effectively a Republican one regardless of the outcome.

I wonder how long it would be before the Dems announce that their candidate is okay to hold office after all and that he should be allowed back in the race if Orman announces he’ll caucus with the Republicans.

I didn’t think of that.

When I read the article I thought Wolf had sour grapes.
But your comment shows that Wolf has a good strategy.

"I think if Orman agrees to Wolf’s terms, it means the end of Roberts."

Conversely, if Orman doesn't agree to Wolf’s terms, then he admits he's just another Democrat wearing an independent's ghillie suit.

Wolf may not be the best example to make my point, but we need to run GOOD Tea Party candidates, not just anybody willing to fly the flag.

Always left wing BS from Politico, but if he cancels the meeting, it proves he's really a 'rat. Did Politico think this through?

Good strategy? Who put the meth in your coffee?

Orman would be THE MOST LIBERAL “RINO” in Congress. Also he could very easily LIE TO WOLFE and flip flop back to the democrats.

Wolfe is a scumbag if he does this, period. A RINO backing a democrat out of spite. I don’t know how anyone can call themselves a conservative and back a GD liberal piece of crap like Orman.

“Conversely, if Orman doesn’t agree to Wolf’s terms, then he admits he’s just another Democrat wearing an independent’s ghillie suit.”

Orman’s likely to refuse to commit to caucus with either side. What’s the point? He’s winning by either a little or a lot in virtually every poll as it is, without picking a side.
