The timing on this move is, to say the least, curious. One of the last three members of Barack Obama’s original Cabinet will announce his resignation today, according to multiple sources talking with NPR. Eric Holder will step down as soon as his replacement can be confirmed — and that may be quite a fight:
Eric Holder Jr., the nation’s first black U.S. attorney general, is preparing to announce his resignation Thursday after a tumultuous tenure marked by civil rights advances, national security threats, reforms to the criminal justice system and five and a half years of fights with Republicans in Congress.
Two sources familiar with the decision tell NPR that Holder, 63, intends to leave the Justice Department as soon as his successor is confirmed, a process that could run through 2014 and even into next year. A former U.S. government official says Holder has been increasingly “adamant” about his desire to leave soon for fear he otherwise could be locked in to stay for much of the rest of President Obama’s second term.
As Noah Rothman mentioned on Twitter, Holder has stuck around longer than most AGs in two-term presidencies, and only Arne Duncan and Tom Vilsack have served the entirety of Obama’s presidency on the Cabinet. Holder has been a lightning rod for controversy and scandal, especially in his fight to keep ATF and DoJ communications regarding Operation Fast and Furious from Congressional oversight. Holder still has an outstanding contempt citation and is still fighting in court to keep those documents under a highly-suspect claim of executive privilege.

Surely, finding another equally stupid, inept and biased idiot to fill HIS shoes will be a Herculean task!
three reasons.
1- indictment (which I doubt)
2- political football- use his replacement’s appointment as a way to gain a few votes in a senate race.
3- they know they’ll lose the senate and want to get his replacement through a democrat senate.
Where will they get his replacement? Gitmo?
It says he is not stepping down.
Just awaiting a replacement - SSDD.
This does not rise to the level of a game changing October surprise.
