Some of these kids saw the destruction caused by divorce and fear that more than they desire to be married.

That may be a factor, too. Not only is there the economic destruction in divorce, but the emotional impact as well. If they have suffered that, they may have little faith in stable relationships. Even growing up in a home where the parents remained together is no guarantee when surrounded by a peer group who suffers the effects.

There have been studies that show even kids in good families view their parents as “divorced”. Weird - but it is so pervasive. I recall years ago had an argument with my wife over something, and one of the kids said “You’re not getting a divorce are you!!??”
