...and neither SEALs nor Marines are “contractors.”

Yeah, but they’re journalists and aren’t required to know anything. Maybe they meant to say “...two former SEALS working as contractors...” Of course that would be cutting them some slack so, nah.

Exactamundo. He could have been a Marine; he could have been a SEAL; he could have been a contractor; he wasn’t all three.

FINALLY ! the Douherty”s speak up ..... This was the family Nancy Pelosi was speaking for when she said she was hearing from the families , who told her they just want the matter to put to rest. If that wasn’t true then they should sue Pelosi .

The Obama Regime will undoubtedly try to settle the Doherty family lawsuit at their home, using binding arbitration.

They do seem to want the matter put to rest. Except for the life insurance part. They want two million dollars. I wonder what the provision in law is that is allowing the life insurance company to deny their claims.

Act of war probably

I guess I was wrong. It is about the money, though perhaps more about the principle of people like Doherty having to buy life insurance but then not getting anything back from that policy.

If the insurance is able to keep from paying up because the death was considered the result of an act of war, then is the Doherty family suing for Doherty being in a war zone that was only equipped as if it was not a war zone? (IIRC it wasn’t equipped/protected enough to even be a consulate or outpost, much less to be in a war zone).

I think it is about the principle. It irks me when you pay for something, and then the insurance company tries to screw you out of it. (Please Pardon the crude language)

Should have made it $1 billion because the State Department will pay $1 million out of petty cash and admit to no wrongdoing.

Sigh. You hear this all the time on talk radio: “Sue the B#$%^&*s” What most people don’t realize is that you must have a legally-recogizable claim in order to be able to maintain a lawsuit -— there’s no general right to go to court if someone has done wrong, such as if someone lies about their official conduct. At common law, viz., in olden times back in England, the law considered the king unable to do any wrong as a matter of law. Under the principle of “sovereign immunity,” the sovereign could not be sued - for anything at any time. In modern times the principle is still in play with our sovereign state and federal governments. There are many exceptions, but the principle remains that the sovereign, federal or state, may only be sued under circumstances where it has consented to be sued. There are provisions that do allow for suing the federal government for wrongful death under certain general circumstances. However, there are a massive maze of immunities where the government cannot be sued for discretionary actions, and I think we’re going to find that setting the security level at the Benghazi facility falls right into immunized conduct. Surely lying about it afterward, as some here have suggested, is an absolute non-starter. I’d bet my botton dollar that this lawsuit goes NOWHERE, and probably pretty fast.

This family lives here in MA. and was pretty adamant about not wanting politicize Benghazi. I From what I read I got the feeling that they were Barry supporters but maybe not.

Makes me sick that this slug is “CIC” as he likes to remind us all repeatedly ... he doesn’t care, has utter contempt, etc. Pick one. If it were up to him, the families would be ignored forever.
