Sounds like he is to be confined in some sort of residential facility, subject to thought reprogramming and must not do anything that the Regime opposes for five years.

Racist judge. If it was a white liberal Demon Rat, there’d be no sentence. Or conviction.

FWIW, having to live in San Diego for 8 months is like being sentenced to an 8 month vacation. I would prefer Maui, but my second choice would have to be San Diego.

I suspect the “therapeutic counseling” will consist of having to take women’s studies courses at UC San Diego.

I’d rather suffer the rack.

Ken White, a blogger who is an experienced federal criminal lawyer (both prosecution and defense), discusses the sentence on his blog here, and explains why this isn't a "re-education camp."

community confinement center

What the heck is a "community confinement center?" I wonder if he's going to appeal this ruling because all it does is effectively neuter him for 5 years. He risks actual jail time if he speaks out against Obama again.

Nazi Germany folks, all over again.

The only part of California I’ve ever visited other than a quick airport, army base, depart is in the Sacramento area.

It was beautiful. If San Diego is half that nice, then we know why Mexico is trying so hard to get it back.

So a “community confinement center” is what they call the Gulag now .... and who knows if they plan to hire one of the scum in there to try to kill him because he criticized The One.
Well, we knew we had our own scrawny little muslim Hitler, didn’t we?

“D’Souza will also have to perform one day per week of community service during his probation term.”

From my perspective, making films like his is a form of community service, and should count as such. By the way, violate campaign finance law and get 8months of confinement and 5years probation, but abuse your power by having sex in the White House and then lying about it on international television, and get sentenced to reelection and adoration by the left.

“Quickest way to stop that is for Tea Party conservatives to start running for office as Democrats. It would take the socialists years to reprogram all of their robot voters and civil masters to realize that a (D) after a name is not an automatic stamp of approval - by that time, their government citadels would be invaded and overrun.

A party is just a brand - since the (R) one is now damaged, let’s borrow the other one. :)”

I like the way you think.

“Community confinement is a condition of probation or supervised release. It involves residence in a halfway house, restitution center, community treatment center, mental health facility, alcohol or drug rehabilitation center, or other community facility.
It also includes participation in gainful employment, employment search efforts, vocational training, treatment, community service, educational programs, or similar other facility approved programs during their nonresidential hours.”

“he should appeal it anyway.”

I’d say it would be heroic for him to appeal the conviction because I get the sense that they are holding the full sentence in abeyance as a threat against such an appeal. The cretin Statists want this conviction to stay in place simply to acquire the precedent.

OTOH, there is also a sinister reason for him not to appeal and then point to the threat as the reason he dares not — as cover. The more RINOs (SKUNCs — statists knowingly undermining the nation’s constitution — is really a more accurate acronym) that D’Sousa is friendly with, the greater the chances he’d never appeal.

In the final analysis, it is a blemish on our society for having allowed such racketeering to have become so firmly established. There were ways to have prevented it from having gotten this far, but I fear the real patriots it would have taken to get it done are all dead by now.

Exactly what I was thinking, else it would be Steyn in vain.

The more RINOs that D’Sousa is friendly with, the greater the chances he’d never appeal.

He does get time on Fox News. He might then think it's about him. OTOH, he knows he has box office and might decide he doesn't need it, knowing that the case brings its own PR.

There were ways to have prevented it from having gotten this far, but I fear the real patriots it would have taken to get it done are all dead by now.

See tag line.

I don’t think we have a functioning justice system in this country anymore. It simply persecutes the politically disfavored.

Dinesh D’Souza RESPONDS to his sentencing and he’s very happy about it

http://therightscoop.com/dinesh-dsouza-responds-to-his-sentencing-and-hes-very-happy-about-it/

Dinesh D’Souza is happy tonight with the sentence he got and feels like he’s won a victory over those who were trying to put him in jail and put him out of business:
