On a whim, my wife and I thought about moving there and then did a little research. Other than it being too expensive, we discovered that there is a roach problem. And supplies are limited and just about everything has to be shipped in including of all things, eggs.
Nothing like good ol’ Colorado or lower 48.
Bed bugs are everywhere, period. Air transport, mobility of any kind can transport them. I’ve gone into HIGH priced hotels, motels in PA/NY and Del and learned the first thing you do, without your luggage in the room, is to rip off the top bedsheet REAL fast and see what scurries out. The hotel/motel has no idea if the people last night brought bed bugs with them or not. I truly believe this type of contamination vector that Obama and the Muslims are looking for to kill off the Americans with Ebola in order to conquer the world for the Caliphate.
Nice place to visit, but a large set of tropical issues compounded by being an island .
Too bad that they do not grow more of their own food, lumber, and such.
You are either suited to living in the tropics, or you are not. Don't try to fit in where you do not fit.
You were looking on the wrong island. Look at the big island of Hawaii. Lots of small independent ‘farmers’. Fresh fruit, veggies, and yes even eggs are everywhere.
A heckuva lot cheaper too.
I’d suggest that if you are a haole, best stay away from Hawaii and its nativist racists. I speak from experience. Hawaii is a viper’s pit of socialistic envy and gibsmedat mentality. I’ll never spend my money in Hawaii.
no heating bills and no choppin firewood , fruit falling off the trees , year round , great sunsets , nice beaches and the ability to tweak almost unlimited Democrat liberal pinheads .
ps: lots of good military folks too
