I get your point in post #55.
This is a boy-king’s idea of shutting up the naysayers, by providing a band-aid.
What happens if any of our dear sons and daughters soldiers, get this damn bug? What will he tell the parents? “they died in the service of thier country”???? HOGWASH!!!
In this case they wouldn’t be operating in that part of the world except for Ebola and Obama.
All of this stuff could be done by hiring private contractors.
While you post safely from your livingroom, the military you degrade is putting their lives on the line protecting your right to post your vile slop.
You are a pathetic POS.
Has it occurred to you that Ebola has become a big enough threat not only with global disease, but with the world economy, that we can’t just ignore it.
These latest efforts may mean that The larger threat is worse than most people are aware of and that desperate measures are needed in an effort prevent what everyone fears most.
So you just don’t know anything about the military and Africa.
Some of them (support personnel) may likely be contractors. The essential personnel (Infectious Agent people, and medical and research doctors) will likely not be contractors.
Follow the money.
There are anti-Ebola patents and the vaccines
and patents will lead back to the DNC and Obama,
just like global warming.
Agree. This is a job for the U.N.
Honestly do you really believe that anything Obama orders is going to turn out well?
Is there some military genius that is in charge of this operation, or is it another one of those missions that Obama will personally direct while golfing or making out with Reggie?
This a**hole muslim marxist, and all of his ilk in public office, refuse to secure our southern border, turn the middle east into one big jihadi free-for-all, run the US economy straight into the ground, systematically tears down the military, and lets the worst dregs of society call the moral shots....
And now that POSOTUS wants to send our troops into a plague infested third-world ****hole full of head chopping muslims and tinpot dictators to try to contain a disease that could be easily contained in the first world?
Thanks, but no thanks. And I am reallllly trying hard to not post what I really want to say.
Well, it’s a strange critter, this United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. It’s a uniformed service under direct control of HHS.
The United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (PHSCC),[5] also referred to as the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service, is the federal uniformed service of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) and is one of the seven uniformed services of the United States.
Along with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps, the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is one of two uniformed services that only consist of commissioned officers and has no enlisted or warrant officer ranks, although warrant officers have been authorized for use within the service.[6] Officers of the PHS are classified as noncombatants, unless directed to serve as part of the armed forces by the President or detailed to a service branch of the armed forces.[7] Members of the PHSCC wear the same uniforms as the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard (when assigned to the Coast Guard) with special corps insignia, and hold ranks equivalent to those of naval officers. Officers of the PHSCC receive their commissions through the PHSCC’s direct commissioning program.
As with its parent division, the PHS, the PHSCC is under the direction of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The PHSCC is led by the Surgeon General who holds grade of vice admiral.[8] The Surgeon General reports directly to the Assistant Secretary for Health who may hold the rank of admiral if he or she is a serving member of the PHSCC.
I have no faith in Messrs. Obama, Jarrett, or Soros, no.
Sending troops who don’t have a choice is wrong. It is not what they signed up for. To serve is not agreement to become political or humanitarian fodder.
Have you been to one of these places? They are cesspools. You feel contaminated just from being there and it won’t wash off. You seek out little islands of clean but they don’t last.
This is a problem that will probably arrive here. We have no control of our borders. That should be a first priority.
If people want to be bleeding hearts about human tragedy in a place too ignorant and corrupt to help themselves they need to pack their own bags and go do something about it. Bleeding hearts are all for it as long as their hearts are not the ones that bleed.
Being afraid now won’t fix all the damage that has been done. Ebola is not one of obungo’s many messes but sending troops to W. Africa is.
I know some of these folks. A finer, more dedicated, truly professional bunch you will not find. Surprisingly conservative and patriotic, too.
Would it make a difference if it was someone we trusted, say Ronald Reagan, that was POTUS? It's impossible to say what Reagan would have done if faced with the Ebola crisis. But the fact that we don't trust the current POTUS seems to be a large part of the objection to this action. And it's a valid objection.
I'm not at all convinced that Ebola could be easily contained in the first world. And I'm concerned that if you let Ebola spread unchecked across the third world to millions of human hosts, then the odds that it mutates into something that spreads even easier and is that much harder to contain is greatly increased.
As it is, it's already driving up chocolate prices. CHOCOLATE!!! This is serious.
send in peace corpse.
I suspect that the REAL reason the 3,000 military staff are being sent to Africa is to CONTRACT Ebola so they can spread it around the US when they return.
Perhaps, then, the telling part will be if the troops are selected from regular units or if they tap civilians from the National Guard. I’d say the latter would not be appropriate.
