I understand and sympathize with the mother’s reactions.
But I think a wiser way to deal with the situation, tactically, would be to take cover between the entry and the daughter, and blast him when he comes through the door.
Inside, she knows the terrain and the perp doesn’t. When she went outside, she exposed herself to the risk of there being more assailants, possibly armed, getting shot and leaving her daughter unprotected.
In this case, IMO anyway, protecting the daughter is infinitely more important than protecting the house.
I didn’t shoot him fleeing he was running backwards toward me honest officer.
My hat is off to this precious mother and her motherly instincts and to her son who clearly bought her the right gift.

And keep in mind that the ONLY REASON she was able to do what she did and NOT be arrested is because there are ENOUGH REPUBLICANS around protecting that right (maybe not every Republican, but still around 90% of them).
Think about that, the next time some troll states that there is no difference between the parties.
