Survivors of German victims of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 downed over Ukraine plan to sue the country and its president for manslaughter by negligence in 298 cases, the lawyer representing them said on Sunday.
Professor of aviation law Elmar Giemulla, who is representing three families of German victims, said that under international law Ukraine should have closed its air space if it could not guarantee the safety of flights.

By international law, the country’s leadership is responsible for air-space, period. Like in 9-11, the US gov’t was totally responsible, and deemed everything to be shut down period, until they had absolute control. By the court system, it’s a winnable episode. Although, I don’t see any court in the Ukraine going along with the idea. Perhaps a world court, with no juridification?

Probably because Putin is likely providing the funding for this lawsuit. You don’t expect a lawyer to file a frivolous lawsuit for free?
