Texas has several strengths, including a nearly autonomous power grid, except for El Paso being connected to the west grid and parts of East Texas being connected to the Eastern US grid.
And the state has two nuclear power plants, natural gas plants, coal fire, etc. - and lots of oil and natural gas production to keep the lights on.
Every other state has a big problem trying to be energy independent and divorcing from the national grid.

Sounds like a worthwhile building project for the new nation. The states that mentioned are capable of supplying the needs of those states. Its the liberal states that try to keep their power production out of their own backyard. Florida has plenty of capacity right here in our own state.
