That kind of trade being subject to the whims of authoritarian governments—by free countries trading with them—is what is a bad idea.

If you're very concerned about "that kind of trade" you're SOL, or perhaps haven't been paying attention to regular FR threads about it.

Regarding energy in particular, I'm sure Canada would rather deal with the US. You'll have to take that up with the Current Resident - oh wait, the US is already subject to the whims of The Won and his minions.

Just because it exists does not mean that grave concern ought to be thrown out the window. The parallels to the pre-WWII world, even the pre-WWI world, ought to be a warning to all. This is not normal.
